In Abbots Bromley, today is a festival. The Horn Dance festival occurs on Wakes Monday every year and is a cultural ritual that has been performed since the early twelve hundreds. As it is every year since then, the dancers collect the horns early in the morning and make the rounds to places around the village, walking about ten miles during this time; all the while carrying a set of animal horns. The group consists of ten performers, all with their part to play and after the long day, a launch of sky lanterns would be a perfect way for the villagers to say thank you to those who participated. After ten miles, dancing and merry making, they deserve some praise for their efforts in making the day a success.

Sky Lanterns – Perfect for Any Occasion

The Abbots Bromley Horn Dance festival relies on the community to organize the festival. From the Horn dancers themselves to all the other parts of the day’s festival, there are people who run it and are often overworked and underappreciated. An evening of floating paper lanterns with the names of those who volunteered to get the festival going and who participated would make the perfect ending credits for the festival day.

On top of floating lanterns being a great way to acknowledge those involved in the festival, they could provide a great way to simply end the festival. While the Horn Dance is hundreds of years old, the design of the floating lantern is based on the Chinese lanterns that have been in use for much longer, and those that were celebrating the Horn Dance originally would have been amazed had they seen Chinese lanterns floating in the night sky. Being a dance that is rooted in pagan traditions, it is very likely that floating lanterns would have been seen as magic or perhaps an omen of things good or bad to come in the next year.

Modern Sky Lanterns – Traditional but Environmentally Safe

For the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance festival or any other event, NightSkyLantern.co.uk’s lanterns are the best and most environmentally conscious choice for sky lanterns. By going back to the original construction methods of the ancient Chinese, our modern sky lanterns are wire free, making them the safest option when launching them in places where they could land in a field where livestock are or a hay field where farmers will be collecting winter feed for their livestock. In both cases, sky lanterns with any type of wire can end up injuring livestock and wildlife and should be avoided. NightSkyLanterns.co.uk’s commitment to the environment is demonstrated by the fact that none of the traditional paper lanterns sold on the site have wire in them at all. For those who celebrate today in Abbots Bromley as well as all the other reasons and areas in the UK where paper lanterns will be launched, the simple deletion of wire from the construction costs pennies more, does not affect the enjoyment of the lanterns and makes it so the farmers enjoy them rather than cringe when they see them floating in the sky.

Today in the UK there are two separate events going on, both great times for flying lanterns. The Jewish Music Institute is holding Klezmer in the Park and also going on today is the Great River Race. In celebration of either event, flying lanterns are the perfect way to help celebrate. For those going to Klezmer in the Park it is a great time to listen to music and have a great time with the top bands performing. The audience can picnic and enjoy the inspiring music. For those who enjoy sporting the Great River Race boasts 300 crews racing down the Thames for a chance at bragging rights and the top prize. Whether enjoying the race orthe music, don’t forget flying lanterns to top off your day.

Klezmer in the Park is a music festival where you can pack a picnic and enjoy the day. The festival will be filled with music, entertainment and dancing. There will even be children’s activities so it is fun for the entire family. While you are enjoying the music and family fun at the park, launch some novelty flying lanterns. The smiley face flying lantern is a great choice for setting off during the day and showing the happiness that is infectious with the brilliant music and exciting entertainment going on around you.

For those who are enjoying the Great River Race you will see celebrities, charitable stunts, fancy dress and 300 crews competing for the win from around the world. It is a lot of fun and a great tradition in the UK. You can use flying lanterns such as traditional white sky lanterns to write the team name of the crew you want to win and set it off in support of the crew. For the winner, you can celebrate the victory by launching flying lanterns in their honour.

Either of the two events going on today in the UK are great reasons to celebrate with flying lanterns. Make sure if you are using them, though, to adhere to all safety precautions and make sure using them is acceptable at each venue. You can even launch them when you get home to culminate the evening with a little fun and festivities. When you launch the flying lanterns, read the instructions and obey all the safety precautions and you can have a safe, fun time suitable for the entire family.

Also, keep in mind that our flying lanterns are eco friendly. They are 100% biodegradable so when they fall to the ground and are exposed to the elements they will disappear completely leaving no trace of existence. In addition, the flying lanterns contain no wire. When they fall to the ground they will be completely safe in case livestock or wild life come across it. There are no sharp wires that will cause injury to the animals. All our products are wire free and biodegradable for a truly green business. Whether a sporting fan or you want to enjoy some musical entertainment today, end the evening with a flying lantern launch to commemorate the day.

Today is Liberty, a Disability Rights Festival held annually in Trafalgar Square. It is designed to be accessible to all people and celebrates the strides London has made in making the city available to the disabled. It is filled with music, dance, speeches, entertainment and food. Many of the performers are either disabled or deaf. Whether you are gathering today to celebrate at Liberty or not, this is the perfect day to celebrate how far England has come in making sure the disabled have equal opportunities. This is an especially great time for anyone who has friends, co-workers or family members with disabilities to celebrate their accomplishments. Of course, whenever there is a celebration, Chinese lanterns should be included so launch some for the Disability Rights Festival.

The Liberty London Disability Rights Festival has been held annually since 2003 and is one of the most outdoor festivals in London. The festival ensures it is accessible to everyone with special consideration for many disabilities including programmes printed in large type and Braille, audio headphones and signers. You don’t have to be disabled to enjoy the entertainment, though. Even though most of the entertainers are disabled, the music, dance, acrobatics, comedy and more is entertaining to everyone. There is even a children’s area so come out and bring the whole family. It is sure to be a great time and for a good cause. Admission is free. Afterward, send off a Chinese flying lantern in honour of the event.

Chinese lanterns such as traditional sky lanterns or coloured sky lanterns are the perfect way to add some fun to any event and the Liberty Disability Rights Festival in London is no exception. After the festivities are complete and you go home with the family, it is a great time to reflect on everything you saw. Each member of the family can relate their favourite part of the day and why it was their favourite then launch the sky lantern. Or, if you have someone in your family or someone you know who is disabled, you can discuss their accomplishments and launch a Chinese lantern in their honour.

It is a great day to celebrate the advancements made to make London, England and the rest of the world more accessible to those who have disabilities. Incorporating Chinese lanterns into the celebration only makes the occasion more festive and fun. Everyone can participate and you can have a great time while putting some time into discussing something important.

Also, keep in mind that Chinese flying lanterns from NightSkyLanterns are 100% biodegradable and completely free from wire so they are safe for the environment. They are easy to use and will create a stunning display in the night sky. If neighbours ask what you are celebrating, bring them in on the fun and everyone can enjoy the evening in celebration of the London Disabilities Rights festival, Liberty.
