With Autumn upon us all and the harvest moon having come and gone, the only thing left to do is celebrate the Harvest with a good festival and this week there are festivals all over the UK celebrating the bounty of a good year. While very few residents actually participate in farming activities now, everyone can take this time to reflect on their hard work and the results from it as well as making vows on how to make next year even better. For any harvest celebration, sky lanterns are an excellent fit by providing a fun and safe backdrop for the harvest festivals occurring around the UK as we speak.

Regardless of if your harvest festival celebration plans are religious or secular in nature, sky lanterns can be used as part of the celebration. Many simply see the harvest festival as a time for reflection and planning and sky lanterns offer a tool to do both of these. Watching paper lanterns float up and away is an excellent focal point for reflection and the paper medium is perfect for writing plans for the future on, to be launched into the air, as was historically done by the cultures that first used these lanterns.

One of the traditional uses of sky lanterns is to send prayers and hopes for the future into the sky, written directly on the paper media each sky lantern provides. This practice dates back to ancient China and continues today, including many countries having mass launches of lanterns around festivals of the year. In Thailand, their biggest group launch of sky lanterns is done during their new year’s festival but even smaller festivals end up having large sky lantern launches as well. For residents of the UK though, any time is good for launching sky lanterns, assuming the infamous weather here cooperates. Harvest festivals are an excellent time to do launches though because the weather is more likely to cooperate, the sun begins setting earlier and with the festival atmosphere extending into the evening, everyone involved will be able to enjoy floating lanterns as they pass by earlier in the evening.

For those who will be attending festivals near water, adding water lanterns to the sky lantern launches can really make for a fun and unique experience; one which will be etched into the memories of the attendees for years to come. The beauty and elegance of sky lanterns combined with lanterns floating in the water is one that cannot be matched and one that everyone deserves to see. As part of any harvest festival, it would be a great way to relax and reflect on the past year as well as start forming plans for how to work harder to better reap the rewards available for the next year. For people of all religions, this is a time of the year where virtually all of them share in a common experience because the Harvest time of the year has historically been one of such strong significance that it literally shapes cultures around it.

Today is the first day of autumn and while the weather may not be much of an indicator just yet, it is time to start getting ready for all of the things that autumn has to offer. Planning weekend trips to those areas of the country with beautiful autumn foliage should begin as well as how to spend those nice, cool evenings that are already creeping in. With these trips out on the weekends to see all that the UK has to offer while the weather is wonderful, consider sky lanterns as a way to cap off those days.

Whether staying in bed and breakfasts or taking the camper out for a few weekend trips before it gets stored for the winter, there is still plenty of time to enjoy the offerings of the small villages that dot the landscape of England. Each weekend offers its own unique opportunities for beauty and adventure and the crisp evenings make for more comfortable sky lantern launches. On top of this, a crisp evening actually makes the lantern’s flight a little more dramatic, with the cooler outside air causing the lantern to be ready to launch a little more quickly and the launch itself is a little more exciting as well. Between the comfort and the great sky lantern launch opportunities a weekend visit to the country offers, start planning now!

There are a number of excellent sky lantern choices available for all of the planned autumn exploits. From the traditional Chinese lanterns that we offer in both white and a wide array of colours to the festive and thoroughly appropriate for autumn pumpkin lanterns that are available on a limited basis, there is the perfect lantern for any person’s tastes. NightSkyLanterns.co.uk also sells lantern accessories and other items as well. From disposable lighters that eliminate the need to remember and seek out a flame source prior to launch to sharpie markers to write big, bold messages on the lanterns themselves, we have everything necessary for a fun sky lantern launch.

As well as all the lantern and lantern accessories, that is not the end of what is available on our site for autumn. Floating lanterns are a perfect, serene addition to any sky lantern launch. Launch sky lanterns and then set a number of floating paper lanterns into any body of water and watch them illuminate the water as they float away with the current. If there is no body of water available, we also carry a selection of candle bags. These bags are made of bio degradable but non flammable paper and can be reused. They are available in a number of colours and designs and can be shipped with or without tea candles.

Whatever your preference is, there is a great option for you available as you begin to enjoy another wonderful UK autumn. From sky lanterns and beyond, NightSkyLanterns.co.uk is the place to shop for all your seasonal party needs.

Sky lanterns were used for centuries for warfare and in times of peace for celebrating and prayer. Today, although sky lanterns have evolved and improved, they are still used for celebrating and having a lot of fun. In the UK sky lantern use is getting even more popular. They are used for festivals, business openings, to celebrate a special occasion or simply for fun. The uses for flying lanterns are limited only to your imagination. Because of this, you never know when the perfect occasion to use these Chinese lanterns may come up so it is advisable to always keep some flying lanterns and accompanying accessories on hand for impromptu celebrations.

NightSkyLanterns is dedicated to providing the best quality flying lanterns on the market today so do not be fooled by imitators. All our Chinese lanterns are made with quality materials with the finest workmanship. All our products are environmentally friendly also. They are biodegradable and are 100% wire free. This means they are safe for animals and will degrade quickly when exposed to the elements. Each of the flying lanterns is individually wrapped so will last a long time and will store easily. They are compact so won’t take up a lot of room and you will have some available whenever you may need them.

Traditional sky lanterns in white are appropriate for just about any occasion. You can use them alone or pair them with other colours. You can even scatter them amongst novelty flying lanterns such as pumpkin flying lanterns for Halloween. With the addition of a sharpie marker you can customise the flying lanterns so that you can write messages, names, sayings, poems, drawing or more to suit any occasion. You can purchase individual traditional white flying lanterns or in packs from six through two hundred lanterns. Keeping some on hand will ensure availability when needed.

Another staple in sky lanterns should be the coloured flying lanterns. You can choose red, yellow, orange, pink, blue and white coloured lanterns and get a single colour or a lot of mixed colours. Similarly to the white traditional sky lanterns, you can purchase coloured lanterns individually or in lots of six through forty eight and can keep them on hand for when you have the opportunity to use them.

Novelty sky lanterns can be used for specific holidays or simply to accent other lanterns. You can use heart shaped sky lanterns or smiley face flying lanterns for many different occasions. Or you can stock up on holiday specific flying lanterns to be sure you have them for holiday get togethers.

Having a great mix of flying lanterns on hand will ensure you are prepared for any occasion. You will always have a way to entertain guests even at the last minute. In addition to sky lanterns, though, make sure you have some stock of accessories such as ice fountains, garden candle bags, glow sticks and bio dove balloons. Keeping a few of each items on hand will allow you to pull together a party quickly and have the best in entertainment even at a moment’s notice.
